Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment

WhatsMyArc is committed to improving digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually working to improve the user experience for everyone and to apply the relevant accessibility standards.

Conformance Status

WhatsMyArc is partially conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the accessibility standard.

This standard satisfies the technical requirements of applicable accessibility legislation, including the European Accessibility Act (EAA), EN 301 549, the US ADA, the Accessible Canada Act, and JIS X 8341-3 (Japan).

Measures Taken

We have taken the following measures to improve accessibility:

  • Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy and landmark regions.
  • Full keyboard navigation support, including arrow-key navigation in dropdown menus.
  • ARIA attributes on interactive components (menus, dialogs, progress indicators, form controls).
  • Visible focus indicators for keyboard users.
  • Skip-to-content link for bypassing repetitive navigation.
  • Text alternatives for non-text content.
  • Focus trapping in modal dialogs with keyboard dismissal (Escape key).
  • Mobile-friendly hamburger navigation menu.
  • Text contrast ratios meeting or exceeding WCAG AA requirements (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
  • Respect for prefers-reduced-motion, prefers-contrast, and forced-colors user preferences.
  • Keyboard-accessible data visualisations (Library of Self bookshelf) with descriptive labels.

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some areas of the site may not yet be fully accessible:

  • Dark theme only: The application uses a dark colour scheme. Users who require a light background may need to use browser-level or OS-level overrides. We support Windows High Contrast Mode via forced-colors media queries.
  • Alt text accuracy: Some decorative images and avatar graphics may have generic alternative text. We are reviewing these for accuracy.
  • Screen reader testing: While we have conducted structural code reviews and automated testing, comprehensive screen reader testing across multiple assistive technologies has not yet been completed.

We intend to address these limitations over time.
